Client: Department of Sustainable Urban Development, Madrid City Council
The concept of the project, “the landscape of the Lucero community”, reflects the approach to the design of the square that starts as a process of re-appropriation of the public space and pursues the construction of a system of new relations between the community and the landscape.
It is a multifunctional space, with flexible areas designed for different temporary and permanent uses: a slope with slides, a pre-existing community garden, an area for events, a pergola for markets and fairs, and sports and games area for socialization.
The project integrates water cycle management and uses species with low water requirements. In addition, the use of different layers of deciduous and persistent trees, shrubs and ornamental meadows contributes to the creation of an orientation system and to the identification of the different areas and functions in the square.
