The Bilbao Urban Green Infrastructure Strategy is the interconnected network of human – managed and natural ecosystems that together contribute to biodiversity, ecosystem health and resilience, and benefit people through the provision of ecosystem services.
The Strategy connects regional green infrastructure with the metropolitan scale and creates a more resilient and sustainable city. The main action is to define the network of green and blue corridors that provides the east-west connection between the mountains and the open spaces surrounding the city. On an urban scale, this network will improve the connection of existing and proposed open spaces.
