Los Misterios Square,
Client: Department of Sustainable Urban Development, Madrid City Council
The project aims to create an harmonious public space, with several options of use depending on the different users and times of day. In order to facilitate this, the square becomes an homogeneous space covered by a single pavement, crossed by lines that draw the surface.
The main concept considers four different functions that divide the space into several areas and respond to different ways of living and spending free time. These areas are:
1. The green lung: a shady place to stop and relax;
2. The playground: located in the centre of the square;
3. The meeting and living area: under a colourful pergola;
4. The event area: a multifunctional space that starts by the bus interchange area and hosts different temporary activities according to the needs of the people.
