Client: Villalba City Hall
The intervention in the “Plaza de los Belgas” is a great opportunity to create a central, multifunctional and meeting square, as well as a resilient public space. The concept is based on the creation of a ‘sponge’ square, which serves as a collection point for rainwater.
These waters will be used for the maintenance of the green spaces and then they will be transported into the Guadarrama River, for the optimization of the water cycle. In addition to this, the project aims to promote an idea of polycentric and flexible public space. The square is no longer a residual space without identity, but a meeting place that reflects the habits and needs of citizens.
